Lesotho is a Christian country and it has different schools that belong to the Catholic Church. The Catholic schools are established and run by the Religious Congregations both men and women in this country. Mazenod High School is one of them which belongs to the Congregation of the Sisters of the Holy Names of Jesus and Mary (SNJM). It was established in 1947. Mazenod High School is named after the Oblate missionary called Fr. Eugene de Mazenod. It was initially a Teachers Training Institute but later in 1979 it become a High School for girls then later it enrolled both boys and girls to date. It is situated in the lowlands of semi urban of Maseru the Capital city of Lesotho. It is along the main South 1 road to the Moshoeshoe 1 International Airport.
Mazenod High School has a Head Master/Principal, Mr. Tohlang Makara and since 1979,
Mazenod High School had many Head Mistresses from the Congregation of Sisters of Holy Names of Jesus and Mary (SNJM) and amongst them, there were: Sr. Julienne Lefebvre (Michel-Archange) SNJM, Sr. Margarita Lephoto SNJM, Sr. Rosalia Khanyane SNJM and Sr. Laetitia Rannoni SNJM
The school provides the boarding facility for girls only, provides general education, sports activities, clubs, choir and practical subjects such as agriculture, piggery, rabbitry, poultry, fashion design, food and nutrition, and computer literacy. These variety allow our children to show their talents and interests in different portfolios. Mazenod High School trains and educates children physically, mentally, spiritually and psychologically by providing them with education, sports activities and counselling.
